Hint on 'optionals' and 'ignored' messages: see mwsvn:mediawiki/trunk/phase3/maintenance/language/messageTypes.inc
Different sources lead to identical translations?

In FAQ#What_is_a_fallback_language? there is a link to the table for fallback languages. The page linked to is obsolete and in fact references a script php maintenance/language/checkLanguage.php
that no longer exists (see https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/core/+/585481 ). The preferred method now to check fallback languages is to look at languages/messages/Messages<lang_code_here>.php and check the setting of $fallback
.
This section opens with: "If you spot a spelling or grammar error in the original English message, or you would like to suggest a better way of expressing the message, then please do not change the English message but instead put a message on the talk page of the project concerned." However, no guidance is offered as to how one can find "the talk page of the project concerned". This needs fixing.
Done in https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=FAQ&diff=prev&oldid=9760562 – if you still see a problem, please improve.
According to this thread:

Wikimedia localizations are updated usually Monday following export, and that section of this page needs to be updated to reflect that. Could someone please change it?
How can I filter all strings having "Osm:Site.about" in their title in translation environment? (I don't mean filtering these pages by global search)
In the section "Messages which are left blank in the default system messages", it says:
- If you look at MediaWiki:Sitenotice in the list of Special:Allmessages here at translatewiki.net you will see [...]
Should the link be redirected to a wiki where Special:AllMessages works, or should the default contents of MediaWiki:Sitenotice be shown (/ linked to) some other way?
Special:AdvancedTranslate is mentioned a few times. But the link is red for me. Has it been renamed?
