Different sources lead to identical translations?

Fallback langauges section has out of date info

In FAQ#What_is_a_fallback_language? there is a link to the table for fallback languages. The page linked to is obsolete and in fact references a script php maintenance/language/checkLanguage.php that no longer exists (see https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/core/+/585481 ). The preferred method now to check fallback languages is to look at languages/messages/Messages<lang_code_here>.php and check the setting of $fallback.

See also https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T258492#6646450 which provides a code search link.

"Improving the English source message"

This section opens with: "If you spot a spelling or grammar error in the original English message, or you would like to suggest a better way of expressing the message, then please do not change the English message but instead put a message on the talk page of the project concerned." However, no guidance is offered as to how one can find "the talk page of the project concerned". This needs fixing.

Can someone with edit power update "Synchronisation with the projects"

According to this thread:

https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T262878

Wikimedia localizations are updated usually Monday following export, and that section of this page needs to be updated to reflect that. Could someone please change it?

Filter strings based on part of title

How can I filter all strings having "Osm:Site.about" in their title in translation environment? (I don't mean filtering these pages by global search)

Iriman (talk)10:28, 1 December 2018

This would be better asked at Support. What are you trying to accomplish with the filtering?

Nike (talk)12:23, 3 December 2018

Thanks for your reply. I want to ensure about consistency of related strings: view and edit them easily. (source and translation side-by-side).

Redlink on Special:Allmessages

In the section "Messages which are left blank in the default system messages", it says:

If you look at MediaWiki:Sitenotice in the list of Special:Allmessages here at translatewiki.net you will see [...]

Should the link be redirected to a wiki where Special:AllMessages works, or should the default contents of MediaWiki:Sitenotice be shown (/ linked to) some other way?

dcljr (talk)20:07, 26 July 2017

I've changed it.

Special:AdvancedTranslate

Special:AdvancedTranslate is mentioned a few times. But the link is red for me. Has it been renamed?

Likely the extension defining the page is simply not installed here.

Yes, not each and everything dealing with translation is also installed in translatewiki.net ;-)
