This template's documentation tells us it is "meant to function as a primitive manual version of Translation Memory, until such time that an automatic tool exists." Has that time come? I see mention of translation memory as far back as 2012, four years after this template was introduced. Maybe the feature is active and there's no longer a need to add these tranclusions in "qqq" documentation? @Nike:
I would love to understand this template better regardless, so if it's still needed then I look forward to learning more and updating the documentation.
There is a JavaScript bound to this Template. While using JavaScript without a server supported fallback (in case a clients cannot, or refuses to, execute JavaScript code) is generally a bad idea, and creating unneccessary barriers to access content on the www, at least the default (without JavaScript running) should be to show, not hide, the information. If JavaScript is running, it can easily hide the information first thing, while the average user has no means to show it on his or her own. --Purodha Blissenbach 08:35, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Your expression "this template" is not clear enough because there's no link to it (or to the page using it).
Nobody can answer you or solve any problem you encountered.
Next time post a relevant link: if you don't know which template (or script or CSS stylesheet) generates the problem, post at least a link to the page where it is used and cause problems.
But as this problem seems specific to your browser, please specify also which browser type and version you use, and your language (this may also be a CSS problem, or insufficiently selective CSS selectors in scripts which cause problems only in some pages or in a specific language).
Did you try changing the language using the language selector to see if this causes the same problems (choose a major language such as English which is more tested). Also try clearing your browser cache (or press CTRL+SHIFT+R or CTRL+SHIFT+F5 in order to refresh not just the page itself, but also all its linked or dependant scripts, stylesheets and images that start being loaded in parallel before the pageload completes).
@Purodha: Thanks for your report. I've fixed the issue in revision 7093059. It should now render as "expanded" by default when accessing without JavaScript. This is our default usually, but for some reason wasn't the case for "Template:Identical".
@Verdy_p: Purodha's expression "this template" is perfectly understandable given that this is a thread posted on the "Template talk:Identical" discussion board. Perhaps you were using Special:NewMessages to read this message and didn't notice the subject on the left side? (It's not the best interface, but it is what it is).
Now that it was made so short (giving more space to actual suggestions in the packed TUX area, which is very good), can we place it on the left side of the screen please? Otherwise it gets very hard to notice, so far on the right side. But if this was made because the information is considered less relevant for translators nowadays, ok.

- This link takes you to a different language field and I have been caught out a few times while editing. Would a warning that the language field has changed be helpful? --Natsubee 13:45, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- What do you mean, "different language field"? Nothing wrong happens when I press the link. Jon Harald Søby 19:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- I was editing in Ewe, clicked on the link to see similar phrases, started editing and realised that I was editing the originals in English (en) instead of Ewe (ee). I had to undo my edits and start all over again. I am not sure whether I have been able to make myself clear. --Natsubee 19:10, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- I understand what you mean, but I can not find the problem myself. Can you give me a link to a page where the template links to an English message? Jon Harald Søby 21:18, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- Those links lead to identical messages in the language you have set in your preferences. It is probably a good idea to change your language settings to the language you are translating. /Lejonel 22:06, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

It would be nice to display the text of {{{1}}} on the template message. --fryed-peach 16:45, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
The result of clicking [show v] is an additional block being shown which overlaps the last line of the preceeding one, so that 2 or 3 lines are rendered unreadable, depending on content, one of which is the last line of the preceeding block . It can be restored by clicking [[hide ?] --Purodha Blissenbach 08:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
[[Template:Identical|{{lcfirst:{{int:info_short}}}}]]
- should imho become:
[[Template:Identical|{{int:info_short}}]]
which is (a) cheaper, (b) does not mix upper- and lowercase initials, and is (c) correct, contrary to the current version.
