jquery.uls

Hi!

Can you please complete the translation of jquery.uls? It's just one word :)

Drawing your attention to it because it's a group that rarely gets updated and is not a part of MediaWiki, so it may get missed.

Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:06, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Amire80: I completed it, although I wonder why this piece of text needs to be translated yet again – I just needed to click the suggestion that says “100% match, used 23 times”; this could have been done by the software… —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:18, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks.
It should be done by a human because there can also be other variants. I've done it myself in a bunch of languages where I was sure that it's correct, usually because it appeared both in the translation memory and in the message "Search for a language" of which this one is a variant. In Hungarian, the translation memory was a bit different from the other message, so I wasn't sure it's correct. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:11, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

SearchVue

Hi,

The SearchVue extension is deployed on the Hungarian Wikipedia, but it's not fully translated. Can you please complete it? There's not much left. Direct link: https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:Translate&group=ext-searchvue&language=hu&filter=&optional=0&action=page

Thanks :) Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:27, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Amire80: I translated what I could. In $1 is simply impossible to translate due to the agglutinating nature and vowel harmony of Hungarian – it should be A $1ben if $1 is Wikikönyvek (Wikibooks), A $1ban if $1 is Wikiforrás (Wikisource), A $1-ban if $1 is Wikivoyage, A Wikipédián if $1 is Wikipédia (here $1 can’t even be used due to the a becoming á) etc. –; the other two can probably be translated, but I don’t know how, and I don’t see them on Special:Search either. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 12:28, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, right :/
There's this patch that Gergő tried to write once to make it possible. Perhaps I should try to finally review it?.. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:24, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Amire80: Of course, it wouldn’t hurt, but it wouldn’t solve all my problems either: one of the above examples is Wikivoyage, which may be pronounced the English way /-ɪd͡ʒ/ or the French way /-aʒ/, but not the Hungarian way [-ɒɡɛ]. The agglutination the patch would create (Wikivoyagéban) sounds so wrong that it hurts. :) (Fortunately, both the English and the French pronunciation result in the same agglutination, by the way.)
On the other hand, the definite article would probably work, as almost all WMF wikis’ names begin with ‘wiki,’ which is correctly identified to start with a consonant. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 19:33, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
You can set exceptions/overrides in configuration. Nike (talk) 05:26, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
