The name of the Shan language
Hi!
There's an inconsistency in how the name of the Shan language is written in Shan in different places.
In some places, it's "လိၵ်ႈတႆး", and in other places, it's "ၽႃႇသႃႇတႆး".
Is it OK to write it as "လိၵ်ႈတႆး" everywhere? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 14:44, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! @Amire80
- We have noticed about an inconsistency of Shan Language name in different places. The meaning of "ၽႃႇသႃႇတႆး" is "Shan Language" while "လိၵ်ႈတႆး“ is "Shan text" and represent only text. As for that reason we prefer to use "ၽႃႇသႃႇတႆး" in stead of "လိၵ်ႈတႆး“. "ၽႃႇသႃႇတႆး" is more formally for the name of the Shan language. Sorry for late reply. Thanks. - OK, thanks. I need to verify something: is it important to write "ၽႃႇသႃႇတႆး"? Or is it perhaps enough to write "တႆး"? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 01:32, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, it is enough to write "တႆး". It's like "English". It is understandable. Saimawnkham (talk) 01:37, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
