Use tl translations for other languages of the Philippines
I found that a number of languages of the Philippines have no language fallback and have few translations. If they had a language fallback, another translation would be shown for messages which have none, instead of recurring to English.
Can these languages use Tagalog (tl) as fallback?
That would be nice if they are translated properly to common Tagalog. Unfortunately, some of those are not, risking confusion in communications.
Thanks for your comment. Is there some resource which defines common Tagalog? That would be helpful to add to portal:tl as a reference for translators.
...and for the technical terms/words, especially those that have no commonly used equivalent in the local language, I would still prefer that they remain in their original English form. Thanks.
Ah. Do the current tl messages use less English loanwords than you would like, or is this a general remark?
This is just a general remark. :) But there were actual cases in the past, where some translations sounded funny while others were difficult to understand for the general Filipino population. What I am trying to say is that translations should encourage the free flow of information rather than hinder it.
