Unicode equivalence for Malayalam Language

Unicode equivalence for Malayalam Language

Hi, From Unicode release 5.1 some Malayalam Characters got two representations. Tim Starling fixed this problem (1.16wmf4 deployment) by choosing newer versions (After local community consensus). I thought that was a Mediawiki fix, but translatewiki has no such function (User:Praveenp/test).

If possible please fix this. Thanks

It's not enabled by default.

Oh and the documentation says:

This only works if $wgLanguageCode is set to "ml".

Thanks Nike, After last year's depression on ml.wiki new user's number, now we are getting more and more users. I think some of them will reach here. Dual encoding is pretty messy for collaborative editing (from our past experience). Is there any workaround?

I talked to Tim and now translatewiki.net converts Malayalam and Arabic to modern variants.

Thanks. Very timely ;-). New IOS 4 has a perfect Malayalam display except old characters (http://ultimategerardm.blogspot.com/2010/06/iphone-ios-4-has-superior-unicode.html)
