OpenStreetMap en-US translation

OpenStreetMap en-US translation

We'd like to start translating certain strings in OpenStreetMap to 'en-US' rather than en-GB or just 'en'. How can we get this set up? Thanks!

I don't understand the question. Is "en" in OSM en-US or en-GB?

OpenStreetMap (the core site) is in British English. Potlatch 2 (the Flash editor) is in British English. iD (the new JavaScript editor) is in American English. It would be good to be able to translate the British English components to American English, and vice versa.

We cannot translate here to either varietey of en. I think, it is up to you which dialect you choose to write the original messages. Does that answer the question?

Probably not quite. Can or should you be using the language codes en-GB, or en-US, or plain en in your Message file(s)? Frankly, I do not know. Maybe, you can leave en empty and make it use a fallback of en-US, but that should of course be tested.
