The phrasing of message Prefs-help-email-others (“You can also choose to let others contact you by email through a link on your user or talk page. Your email address is not revealed when other users contact you.
”) is unclear. It seems to indicate that you can choose to permit other users to edit your user or talk pages. I believe it should clearly state that you can choose to permit other users to contact you:
- on your e-mail (instead of on the wiki),
- by using a link that appears in the sidebar
of your user and talk pages.
A kind of agree, it's not relevant where the links are located.
How about "You can also choose to let others contact you by e-mail through a link on your user or talk page, which does not reveal your identity."
Can we settle on "You can also choose to let others contact you by e-mail through a link on your user or talk pages, which does not reveal your e-mail address."
Sounds good to me - clear and unambiguous.
Is it only me reading it as ... a link ..., which does not reveal e-mail address? Can't we just split the sentence and say Your e-mail address is not revealed when other users contact you. or some such.
