User talk:Макѕе
Welcome to Betawiki!
Hi Макѕе. Welcome to Betawiki! Please create a user page on which you describe which language(s) you will be working on. If you are going to be an active user here, please also add your name to the languages you will be working on. Before you can use Special:Translate, and Special:Magic, please request translator rights. If you have a wiki where a lot of translations have already been made, you can make an import request. Other useful pages are linked in the translatewiki.net menu that comes with this message.
Once you have started translating, your work will be committed to the standard product every few days. If you want to explicitely request your work to be added, please make a request for commit.
I wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Cheers! SPQRobin 14:40, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
I gave you translator status. So you said it uses latin, greek and cyrillic script. Are all of them equally used or is there one/two we can ignore? SPQRobin 14:43, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- There are 1500 people in Romania and 500 people in Turkey who write in latin script. 2500 people in Macedonia who write in cyrillic script and 3000 people in Greece who write in greek script. I can't read and write greek. --Макѕе14:46, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok... This is going to be a problem :-S We'll need to set up a conversion script and make both a latin and cyrillic message file. Can you read/write cyrillic? SPQRobin 14:51, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm from Macedonia. It's my native script. --Макѕе 14:51, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, please give me one language name in latin script, one in cyrillic script, and if you can, also one in greek script. Then, you can start translating here in latin script and here in cyrillic script. SPQRobin 14:57, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Cyrillic: Влахесте, Latin: Vlăheşte, Greek: Βλαεστε. --Макѕе 15:00, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

- Would it not be: Влахеште, Vlăhește, Βλαεστε ? Or does 'с' mean 'ș' in rup ? - FrancisTyers 15:30, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- The sha is not written normally. Mostly we use a normal es. --Макѕе 15:32, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, but if you're talking about Aromanian, why are you using the Romanian orthography? Wouldn't it be "Vlãheshte" not "Vlăhește" ? - FrancisTyers 15:36, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- My apologies, you're talking about Megleno-Romanian (ruq) not Aromanian (rup). Where can I read more about the Megleno-Romanian orthography? - FrancisTyers 15:38, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- There is no special Megleno-Romanian orthography, It's just Romanian orthography. I'm not an expert on latin writing and especially not on accents. The reason why I take the Romanian orthography is because the people who write Megleno in latin are from Romania or Turkey. In Greece they write greek not latin and in Macedonia they write cyrillic. --Макѕе 15:42, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Do you have a guide to the Cyrillic orthography? If you'd be interested I can help you write software to transliterate between the various orthographies if you can supply me with references to the conventions. - FrancisTyers 15:45, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, I haven't. I think there is none because there are just few people speaking Megleno (about 6000 of which only 2 500 live in Macedonia) --Макѕе 15:49, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

- So normally you just "write as you speak" ? - FrancisTyers 15:52, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- My grand-father has learned me how to write and he wrote some words different compared to the pronouncement, like драг which is actually pronounced as драц. I normally write the драц-version, but I sometimes write my grand-father's version. So, yes I write as I pronounce it. --Макѕе 15:55, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

- Interesting. I wonder if this goes for those who write in Greek/Latin or if they follow the orthographic conventions of the dominant language... - FrancisTyers 15:59, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think they follow the orthographic conventions of the dominant language. I may come from Macedonia, I don't speak one word Macedonian, probably because we've moved to England with the whole family when I was three or so. --Макѕе 16:02, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

- A little bit. --Макѕе 16:10, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

- Ok. If you ever come across anyone interested in making a Megleno-Romanian ←→ Romanian machine translation system, let me know. Machine translation generally sucks, but between related languages it can be rather good. - FrancisTyers 16:48, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I believe that it can be good then. --Макѕе 16:52, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

ruq-grek
Hi Макѕе! I have a good knowlegde of the Greek alphabet, so I was thinking I can help a little bit with ruq-grek. But I need to ask if it is completely the same, so is it just transcription or is it more complex than that? Greetings, SPQRobin 17:34, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- The problem of the Greek alphabet is that it doesn't have enough letters to give each sound a letter. When the new Greek alphabet will be published, works can begin. Макѕе 09:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
