Localising verb forms in MediaWiki

  • For an instruction from the interface to a user, for example "enter password" at login: 2nd person plural imperative (this is the formal mode of address to a stranger)
  • A user commanding the computer to perform an action, for example "Save": either the impersonal imperative or the 3rd person singular imperative. For both of these the closest equivalent in English is "let it be saved".
  • Page titles, dialog box headings, tabs, links, for example to and on an "upload" form: verb-noun. Its nearest English equivalent is the infinitive.
